Liangpei Promises Marriage Within Three Years or a Refund

Chinese dating app Liangpei is testing an unusual promise: users pay 2,000 yuan once, and the company says it will refund the fee if they do not marry within three years. Sixth Tone reports that the service launched in July and is built for people seeking marriage rather than open-ended browsing. New users complete a roughly 20-minute voice interview with an AI matchmaker. Its 25 questions cover relationship history, marriage plans and subjects such as property ownership.
Liangpei turns the answers into a detailed profile and compatibility ranking. Once two users match, they can talk only to each other until one chooses to move on. Founder Zeng Xinxun told Sixth Tone that the app had more than 9,300 active users across 300 Chinese cities. He said 91% of people who start the interview finish it, while about one in 10 users has entered an exclusive match. The app requires real-name registration, a marital-status check and live photo verification. Zeng said it had blocked 487 people found to be married.
The long interview and one-match limit are meant to keep people focused instead of browsing continuously. One anonymous user told Sixth Tone that she liked the slower pace but could be left waiting when her only match stopped carrying the conversation. The product design is visible in the service, but the user totals, interview completion rate, blocked-account count and early engagement figures come from Zeng and have not been independently audited. Liangpei has operated for only a few months. No user has yet reached the three-year refund deadline, so the company cannot show that its guarantee leads to marriage.
